"Now trying to hack my Instagram." Founder posts password-reset email he says he did not request.
At 02:55 IST on the night following the X withholding, founder Abhijeet Dipke published a screenshot of an Instagram email addressed to abhijeetdipke: "Hi abhijeetdipke, sorry to hear you're having trouble logging into Instagram. We got a message that you forgot your password. If this was you, you can get right back into your account or reset your password now." Two large blue buttons followed: Log in as abhijeetdipke and Reset your password. Dipke captioned it, plainly: "Now trying to hack my Instagram."
The Bureau notes, in keeping with house style, that nobody, anywhere, forgets their own password at 02:55 in the morning of the day after their X account was withheld in response to a legal demand. The probability of coincidence is, by our preliminary back-of-envelope estimate, in the "please file a police complaint" range. Whether the complaint will be filed, accepted, registered, investigated, or quietly retired is a separate matter, which is currently in front of a sub-committee that has not, in keeping with house style, met.
The pattern is familiar. Withhold the platform. Reach for the credentials. Drain the host. Reuse the burrow. The Bureau's own taxonomy already has a binomial for this: Ampulex digitalis — the digital subspecies of the parent wasp. We did not expect to be naming it from the field this week. We did not expect to be naming it from this side of the field at all.
Hack-attempt allegation reported in general terms by Deccan Chronicle and NewsX (Dipke quote: "Many attempts are being made to hack our account"). The specific 02:55 IST password-reset screenshot is currently visible on the founder's personal social posts; no mainstream outlet has yet timestamped or independently corroborated the exact email shown. Meta / Instagram has not, as of filing, issued a statement. We are publishing the artefact as presented by the founder, with the verification caveat explicit. The Bureau prefers a caveat over a deletion.
